A Catholic charity organization has launched a campaign for one million children around the world to pray the Rosary for peace on Oct. 7, the feast of the Holy Rosary.
“Together with the children in your home, your school, and your parish, will you take part in our annual One Million Children Praying the Rosary campaign?” Aid to the Church in Need’s website asks. “This global initiative inspires young hearts to pray with Our Blessed Mother and to discover the profound beauty and strength found in prayer.”
Aid to the Church in Need is a Vatican-commissioned organization that supports persecuted Christians and Catholics around the world, providing spiritual and physical assistance to persecuted Christians.
Throughout history, Our Lady has revealed herself to children in apparitions and urged them to pray the Rosary. In the apparitions of Fatima, Our Lady encouraged the three young visionaries to pray the Rosary for peace as World War I ravaged Europe.
The Feast of the Holy Rosary was instituted by Pope Pius V after the Battle of Lepanto in 1571, where the Christian Holy League defeated the Ottoman Navy, an important victory for the safety and security of Christian Europe. Christians around the world, per the Pope’s instructions, had prayed the Rosary for the victory of the Christian forces.
