Pray to protect America from evil.
We’ve seen hopeful changes in direction for the United States since last year’s presidential election. But there are still dark forces threatening American culture.
Violence is taking innocent lives. The scourge of abortion continues. Men are allowed to claim they’re women. Boys and girls are being told they were born in the wrong bodies. We’ve seen outright persecution of those upholding the religious principles upon which this country was founded.
We, the Church Militant, are in a battle for the soul of our nation. But we have a mighty defender to lead us, fight with us, and help us achieve the grace we need to renew America and restore her to the glory our founding fathers intended.
This novena will draw Catholics across the country together as we ask our Lord and the Blessed Mother to do battle for us, our families, and our children.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle!
Day 1 - Sept 20 : For the protection of the unborn and the vulnerable.
Day 2 - Sept 21 : For an end to politically motivated violence.
Day 4 - Sept 23 : For justice rooted in truth for leaders, courts, and institutions.
Day 5 - Sept 24 : For conversion of hearts and renewal of the soul of America.
Day 6 - Sept 25 : To safeguard families against cultural lies.
Day 7 - Sept 26 : To strengthen priests, bishops, our American Pope, and for new vocations.
Day 8 - Sept 27 : For courage for Catholics in the public square.
Day 9 - Sept 28 : For defense of religious liberty in law and society.
Day of Thanks : In Thanksgiving for God’s mercy and for a new dawn for America.
Jesus himself told us, some demons “can only be driven out by prayer and fasting.” And so, we’re calling on all American Catholics to gather in prayer, September 20-29, asking the intercession and aid of St. Michael the Archangel in bringing about the grace that will renew this great nation. Preserving America’s future depends on each of us.
Proclaim your faith in the protection of St. Michael and call others to prayer with this t-shirt that can only be found at CatholicVote.

Kelsey Reinhardt, CatholicVote President
We are living in a unique Catholic moment. Record numbers of converts are coming into the Church. We have an American pope. There is a president in the White House who has openly acknowledged the value of Catholicism.
All of that is encouraging but we still need to be on guard against forces that would see all of that and more undone.
As we know from Christ himself , there are some demons that “can only be driven out by prayer and fasting” (Mark 9:29). That’s why it’s so important to pray. And to pray specifically for the protection and intercession of St. Michael the Archangel through this novena.
Last year, more than 31,000 Catholics participated in our Novena to St. Michael. Please help us spread the word and build an even stronger prayer army this year.
Use the sign-up form above on this page. We will send you special access to the entire novena as well as a daily email to remind you to pray.
The word “novena” comes from the Latin word for “nine.” This form of prayer extends over nine days and is usually dedicated to a specific intention. The first novena actually predates the Church itself! After Our Lord’s Ascension into heaven, the Apostles and the Blessed Mother prayed together for nine days in the Upper Room. On the ninth day, the Holy Spirit descended at Pentecost, the birthday of the Church! Since then, the practice of devoting nine days of prayer for a particular cause or in honor of a particular saint has been embraced by Catholics throughout the world.
We know that many of the challenges our country faces stem directly from a greater spiritual battle – a fight for the very soul of our beloved nation. And so, as Catholics have always done, we turn to St. Michael for his heavenly aid in battle.
Pope St. Leo XIII promulgated the widely prayed St. Michael Prayer in the late 1800s after a vision of Satan being given free reign over the Church and the world. He wanted to give Catholics a prayer by which they could call upon the Archangel against the powers of darkness.
For more information on the Catholic tradition of asking angels and saints to pray for us, see this great article from Ascension Press.
To paraphrase St. Augustine, “Work as if everything depended on you. Pray as if everything depended on God.” We here at CatholicVote encourage you to boldly live your faith and support your parish and fellow Catholics during this trial – be a light in a time of darkness!
Join our fight to preserve faith, family and freedom.
America’s 250th anniversary is fast approaching and everyone at CatholicVote is looking forward to celebrating this amazing country we’re blessed to call our home.
We’re also thrilled to be living in a unique Catholic moment for our nation: priestly and religious vocations are up, record numbers came into the Church this year, many Catholics are serving our nation proudly in government at all levels. And we have an American pope!
With all this momentum, we need to prepare for the years to come by building up the resources we need to make sure America remains a place where every Catholic is encouraged and enabled to live out their faith in public life.
